Our favourite coffee shop in the harbour

Solid stone holiday homes, 3 knocked into one 2 x bedroom, 2 x bathroom, plus lounge and kitchen. All completely new and modernised inside but retaining the old Turkish feel. All doors open onto a HUGE balcony that looks towards the bay. This is not your normal touristic, loud holiday rental and we expect the people who rent to please enjoy themselves, but keep the noise to a mimimum. Turkish people live her permenantly and many will speak English, German and French. The rooms have double beds, all have basic furniture it is NOT a luxury aparment, there is no TV , radio or communications however you have a stove, kettle and utensils. This really is a switch off, time to relax place.
There is a pool or the private beach opposite, mention you are staying there and you will be allowed in free. The village is a 7min walk where you will find the local market on a Thursday, trypical tourists shops are popping up, but it still retains its village feel. However there is a local shops fro basic essentials a 2min walk as is a couple of fabulous seafood restaruants no need to go into the harbour if you do not wish to. Bodrum city is just a mini bus ride away as is the big supermarkets, however it is much nicer to utilise the local shops and get to know the people living in Yaliakavak and try your hand a speaking Turkish.
On the other side of Yalikavak you will find the big hotels and many tourists, beaches with loungers and umberellas if that is what you are looking for, Monokus is not for you.

Directions:

If you arrive at Bodrum airport ( Milas ) youwill need to hire a car or a taxi, it is 100ks and will cost at least $100. You can also take a mini bus into Bodrum and then a taxi from there which is 22ks away. You will need to ask for Yaliakavak but the port ( Limani) side It is straight up 2mins from there, ask for MONOKUS it is well known as it is probably the oldest holiday village. There is a big arch that you will need to go through, or the side road which is closer to the rooms but beware it is an uphill struggle if you have heavy bags.There is no one to assist you, however there will be someone to give you the keys.
