The family holiday complex Club Albufeira is located 2 km from the sandy beaches and picturesque Old Town and is a safe haven with 24 hour security, CCTV cameras and lifeguards on duty at the pools in high season. On site there are 4 superb pools (1 with 2 jaccuzzis, 1 heated in winter), 2 restaurants/bars, mini golf, mini market with fresh bread, drinks, newspapers and much more, tennis courts, children's play area and BBQ evening with entertainment. the 24 hour reception has telephone, internet, ATN and the multi-lingual staff can help with car hire, taxis and discounted green fees at various golf courses nearby, as well as information on excursions and activities. The free shuttle bus leaves twice daily, local buses leave every half hour outside or a taxi is about 5 euros. Walking takes about 20/25 minutes. Guests also have access to the extensive facilities of Albufeira Camping across the road.

The apartment is situated less than 100 yards from one of the pools and the main restaurant, but is not overlooked. The living/dining area opens onto a sunny balcony where you can dine or BBQ al fresco. It has a double sofa bed, plenty of additional seating, table and chairs, cable TV, DVD player, stereo, games, books, DVDs and a portable fan. The twin bedroom has a small balcony, overhead fan, hairdryer and safe. There are two full size bunk beds built into an alcove off the hallway. The kitchen is well equipped with a small compartment in the fridge, hob, microwave, toaster, kettle and an electric juicer for thos bags of oranges sold so cheaply by the roadside.

Albufeira is famous for its extensive sandy beaches, many of which have the EU blue flag for cleanliness and safety. The seafront is pedestriansed. During summer the Old Town with its cobbled streets has a great resort atmosphere with muscicians and artisan stalls in the street by day and plenty of entertainment by night. Nearby Zoomarine and Splash Waterpark are exciting excursions for children. Golf, riding, water sports, fishing, sailing, surfing and cycling are available, plus it is a great region for walking and bird watching, especially in the wetlands. The lovely mountain village of Monchique, Moorish Silves with its castle, Vilamoura marina and Tavira near the Spanish border are easily reached by bus or car. Seville and Lisbon are about 2/3 hours drive away.
