The lush tropical grounds contain an Olympic-size swimming pool with bar and childen's pool. A five minute walk away, Torba is a popular but quiet centre for Turkish family holidays. A working fishing port, it also boasts a number of restaurants and cafes along the water front which offer sunbeds and umbrellas.

The cosmopolitan tourist centre of Bodrum is less than 10 minutes by local bus or dolmus which frequently passes the complex gates and offers all the facilities of a 21st century resort whilst retaining its eastern ambience and traditions. Set around the spectacular Crusader castle in the middle of two bays the town contains a wealth of narrow streets with small shops selling all kinds of Turkish handicrafts. There are small Turkish teashops and eateries where you visit the kitchen to choose your dish or stylish modern bars and waterside restaurants offering the freshest seafood alongside the grandest view of the castle.

From Bodrum it is easty to explore the mountainous pine-clad peninsula or to dive back into the 5000 years of history of an area which was the cradle of European civilisation. Excursions can be made to major Greek sites such as Ephesus, Hierapolis ( Pamukkale) and Knidos ( Datca)and to the south at Dalyan there are the rock tombs of Telmessos, a visit to which also includes a boat trip along a reed-fringed waterway to a superb beach.

And to round off a day of either relaxation or activity there is nothing like a Turkish hamam!
