Situated in Obertraun, within the famous beautiful Salzkammergut region of Austria and within a UNESCO World Heritage protected area.

The Salzkammergut is one of the most beautiful regions in the heart of Austria - Especially in winter the breathtaking scenery appears in all its splendour. The mountains and lakes turn into a stunning white paradise. Human activity in the magnificent natural landscape of the Salzkammergut began in prehistoric times, with the salt deposits being exploited as early as the 2nd millennium BC. This resource formed the basis of the area’s prosperity up to the middle of the 20th century, a prosperity that is reflected in the fine architecture of the town of Hallstatt (4km away).

Only 1 hour from Salzburg, with plenty of activities within easy reach by car.

Obertraun is the perfect base for exploring this area of outstanding natural beauty characterised by the Dachstein mountain range, with all year round activities. Examples of which are:

Winter:

The Krippenstein Freeride Arena (2100 metres) - is a magnet for those who enjoy winter sports in unspoiled natural surroundings and is accessible via the recently modernised Dachsteinbahn cable car system, which is only 2 minutes from Landhaus Osborne.

It was recently voted No.1 Freeride Area in Ski & Wintersport journal „Planet Snow“. As well as 30km of off-piste skiing, there is an 11 km prepared ski piste from the summit down to the valley (1,500m difference). Younger guests will have hours of fun at the recently established "Krippi-Park".

Down in the valley there is a wonderful 14 km long cross- country ski trail which passes through the "Koppenwinkl", a Nature Preservation Area renowned for its beauty. Skating is now possible on the trail too, thanks to modern technology.

In addition to skiing in Obertraun, within easy reach buy car are the ski areas of Dachstein West (140 km prepared runs - 15 minutes by car), Loser (29 km prepared runs - 20 minutes by car), Katrin-Alm, Bad Ischl (6 km prepared runs - 25 minutes by car), Postalm Arena (20 km prepared runs - 40 minutes by car) - plus many more....

The region provides a real adventure for downhill and cross country skiers and snowboarders of all abilities. For those who prefer more gentle snow shoe hiking, Obertraun has plenty to offer.

Summer:

During the summer, there are endless opportunities for visitors throughout the summer months. Enjoy a hike high up in the alps or a pleasant stroll through our valleys.

Take a dip in the lake or explore the mystic Dachstein caves.

If you enjoy mountain biking then, in conjunction with the 'Salzkammergut Mountainbike Centre', we can offer MTB Training, Guides or Tours - Learn how to ride like a professional - Gears, Braking, how to take bends, downhill etc. If required we can transport you and your bike to the tour start and end points.
